Tell me a little bit about Beijing?
Beijing, formerly known as Peking, is the capitol of the People’s Republic of China and is the number one tourist destination within China. It is the second largest city in the entire country and offers a little bit of everything you could ask for when touring China. The good thing is, you will find all the essential comforts of home here as well.
Why is it so cool? China Beijing travel is such a popular choice because you can see the modern metropolis while also exploring some of the ancient architecture and buildings. If you book a vacation that includes a Beijing travel package, you will find that there is plenty to interest you for days.
What are some of the attractions? Beijing is situated in a place that is convenient to a number of historic sites: Tiananmen Square - The largest public square in the world. You can observe the daily flag raising ceremony there and visit the National Museum of China.
The Simatai Great Wall - A 19 kilometer long portion of the Great Wall that is divided into two parts, east and west. The west section is gentle and has many intact watchtowers. The east is extremely steep and treacherous. It is so challenging that there is a yearly wall climbing tournament here. Bricks on this part of the wall are marked with the date they were made and the number of the army that laid them. It is considered the best preserved portion of the wall.
The Forbidden City - This city was built within Beijing during the 1400's as a home for rulers of China. Its name comes from the fact that only the rulers and their servants were allowed in. 10 meter high walls surrounded the palaces and outside of the walls was a moat,
Imperial palaces and gardens of the Ming and Qing dynasties - Construction began in 1406 and was completed fourteen years later. For over 500 years, 24 emperors ruled from the confines of this city. The palaces were fully walled on four sides by 10-meter-high walls, 7,236 kilometers in circumference. Outside the walls, a 52-meter-wide moat with a length of 3.8 kilometers surrounds the city. Only the rulers of China and their servants were allowed within the city. Anyone else coming into or leaving the city had to have the emperor’s permission.
These are just a few of the sites that can be visited during China Beijing travel. If you’re heading to China, don’t miss out on this fantastic city and all that it contains within and nearby for you to see. China Vacation Package | Information On Beijing China
